Welcome to the St George Place Community!
We have collected some basic information that you should know.
School Hours: 7:30am-2:50pm.
Doors open at 7:05am for students to walk to the multi-purpose room (1st-5th) or cafeteria(PK-K).
First bell rings at 7:20am at which time 1st-5th grade students will walk to their classrooms and Pre-K and Kinder will walk to the Cafeteria.
Tardy bell will ring at 7:30am.
Dismissal is at 2:50pm.
Arrival: All students are able to be dropped off in the carpool lane at the front or the back. The back is for car drop off only. Parents who wish to walk their student into the building can ONLY walk in at the FRONT Hidalgo St entrance starting at 7:20am.
Dismissal: Carpool- PreK, Kinder, 1st grade and 5th grade (Catoni, Lozano, Tzoc) will be picked up from the BACK entrance. The carpool lane can only be accessed driving North on McCulloch Cir and turning right into the school’s back lot. When exiting the Back carpool lane you will be able to turn right only.
Carpool- 2nd-5th grade (Kussmaul, Jenkins) will be picked up from the FRONT Hidalgo St entrance. The carpool line enters in the circle drive at the front of the school. Once the line fills up on Hidalgo St it will wrap around onto Yorktown St.
Walkers will be dismissed at the walker gate on the Hidalgo St side of the school.
Early Pick Up: Any early pick up will need to be before 2:20pm.
Dress Code: Monday- Navy blue polo shirt and khaki bottoms or navy blue polo dress.
Tuesday-Thursday- Any color St George IB learner profile shirt or spirit shirt and khaki bottoms. IB learner profile and spirit shirts can be purchased from the PTO at the school store or can be ordered online on our website.
Friday- Grade specific spirit shirt and khaki bottoms or jean bottoms.
Spirit shirts must be worn on all field trips.
Lunch: Students have the option of bringing a lunch or eating a lunch provided by the school. For the 2018-2019 school year HISD is offering all students free breakfast/lunch/ and dinner.
Joining your student for lunch: You may join your student during their scheduled lunch time. You can bring lunch in or sit with them while they eat school lunch. There are designated tables for parents to eat with their students, just look for the signs on the tables or you can sit at the tables outside. During the first 2 weeks of school and a few other testing days throughout the year lunch visitors will not be allowed. The school will communicate those testing days before hand.
Communication: The following are the primary ways our school and PTO communicates with families:
-Living Tree. Living Tree is an electronic messaging app. Teachers will invite parents to join their class group. Parents can download the app on your electronic device or access it online at www.livingtree.com
-PTO Communication Packets. At the beginning of every month we send home a PTO communication packet with the monthly newsletter and any other information for that month. The newsletter is also sent out to the PTO’s email list and available on the PTO website.
-School Call Outs. The principal will do call outs periodically to inform families of happenings going on our campus. Make sure your phone number is always up to date with the school.
-PTO emails. The PTO will send out information to our email list. Make sure you sign up to receive our emails. You can sign up to receive our emails on the home page of the PTO website or text SGPPTO to 22828.
